Independent software vendors (ISVs) who manufacture and sell solutions for customers such as cloud accounting providers such as Xero will find it easier to enter the market off the beaten track thanks to a new app store from the New Zealand company. In early August, Xero unveiled a new-looking App Store, which the company says will provide small business consultants with a new and easier way to discover and buy apps for their business and help app partners grow on the Xero platform. The Xero App Store offers new benefits to our small business consultants and our app partners, with a greater emphasis on marketing and growth initiatives that connect app partners to small business customers.
Business owners wishing to leverage the power of Xero-connected apps can use the Xero App Store Search software to receive personalized personalized recommendations based on machine learning. For large ISVs who have been Xero partners for a long time, the new App Store provides an additional channel through which customers can find solutions and purchase them.
To help Xero App Store users find, purchase and connect to Xero-compatible apps, Xero has developed a series of subscription billing APIs that allow third-party vendors to give their customers a trial version of how to purchase and manage their apps on the App Store. This has been reinvented as an easy way for small businesses and accountants to discover and buy apps that help them run their business. Today, the global platform for small businesses and app partners in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand can access a number of these subscription-based Xero APIs that give them the ability to test and purchase their apps directly from the app store.
Research by Xero found that companies that use the services of five or more apps perform better than those that don't. According to a recent research report by the accounting software company, the companies that use these apps do better: app sales rose 4.3% year-on-year in December 2020, while apps declined 3.4%. The study conducted by the company found that companies in these countries that use the Xero App Store performed better than those that did not.
Strong developers are entitled to more benefits and opportunities to work with Xero to accelerate growth, the memo to developers states, which includes elements such as the number of premium listings in the App Store, special badges and additional support from Xero employees. The vision for Xero App Store is to help tailor the right app to the right customer, and we are currently in a pandemic, and the App Store is filling a conference void that many companies are filling, so this is a new opportunity for us to take advantage of. By investing in new subscription and billing capabilities in the XERO App Store Subscriptions, Xero customers will be able to pay and manage their apps in one place, eliminating early development challenges for our developers and improving the experience of all our customers by consolidating billing, maintaining upgrades and downgrades from one location.
